Los Angeles has many great burgers to choose from, but few restaurants deliver what 25 Degrees offers -- the convenience of 24 hour operation, the quality of a discerning burger fanatic, and the posh location of the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. You can choose from any of their 3 pre-configured burgers, or you can optionally build your own by choosing your meat, cheese, add-ons, and sauce of choice. The bar is excellent, with many favorites on tap including Stella Artois.
25 Degrees - Hollywood
The Oinkster - Eagle Rock
11AM-11PM Fri-Sat
11AM-9PM Sun
This is another fine example of fast food taken to the next level, as stated by their slogan "Slow Fast Food." By far this is some of the best pastrami I've had, and if you're a total carnivore, definitely don't pass up the Royale, which is essentially a bacon cheeseburger married to a pastrami sandwich. Also, if you're a fan of well-done fries, their Belgian style fries are twice fried, making them extra crispy.
Portfolio Coffeehouse - Long Beach
5:30AM-Midnight Friday
6:30AM-Midnight Saturday
6:30AM-11PM Sunday
There are a few pretty good coffee shops in the Long Beach area such as Grounds Cafe on Spring St, but none of them have seemed to capture the local art talent like Portfolio Coffeehouse (often referred to as 'Portfolios'). As the name implies, there is definitely an artist theme, including an art gallery usually populated with the work of local artists.
The Hungry Cat - Hollywood
11AM-10PM Sun (drinks till midnight)
The more I continue to explore what different restaurants the various so cal cities have to offer, the more I keep coming back to The Hungry Cat, which is located at the Sunset and Vine complex. Unlike a lot of Hollywood establishments, this one is actually attached to an underground parking garage, so you aren't forced to circle the area and end up walking several blocks.
